Comics, fandom and all the fun stuff at Pop Hub @ the 39th MIBF

The 39th Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) becomes even more exciting with the very first Pop Hub: Comic Splash x Fandom Fest set on Sept. 15 and 16 (Saturday and Sunday), at the SMX Convention Center Function Room 3.

The Pop Hub is filled with special events made especially for comic book fans and enthusiastic fandoms, so fair-goers are sure to have plenty of things to do.

See you at the pop culture event of the year!

Listen to creators discuss what it takes to make stories come to life! Attend talks like How to Self-Publish and Other Avenues in Publishing by Zeno Denolo at 1 p.m., Meeting Room 4 on Sept 15, and Randy Valiente’s Life as a Comics Creator on Sept. 16, 4 p.m., at Meeting Room 6. There’s a great lineup of talks from many more authors and creators, so keep an eye out!

A couple of not-to-be-missed events for comics lovers are In Conversation with the Filipino Comics Artists Panel Discussion, Q&A, and Live Demo with Carlo Pagulayan, Harvey Tolibao, Francis Martelino, and Jann Galino from 1:30 to 3:15 p.m, and Comics to Content Panel Discussion with Mervin Malonzo, Manix Abrera, and Paul Basinillo at 4 p.m., all at the MIBF main stage on Sept. 15.

For creatives and curious attendees eager to learn something new, there will be plenty of workshops by local artists, like Digital Painting in Manga Style (Meeting Room 7, 1 p.m.) by Rin Tiongson and First Academy of Computer Arts (FACA), Geeky Plush Making Workshop (Meeting Room 6, 10:00 a.m) with 501st Legion, Hogwarts Philippines – Pinoy Harry Potter, and Hamilton PH, among others.

The Pop Hub experience won’t be complete without attending exclusive book launches, playing games like Quidditch and Game of Thrones Henyo, joining cosplay competitions, and visiting artists’ booths at the Artists Lane! There’s a whole lot of amazing activities suited to everyone’s fanboy/fangirl needs, so don’t miss the very first Pop Hub at the MIBF!
