Ringing in the holidays at Lancaster New City

For the Filipino, Christmas has always been a time to make new memories with our families and loved ones. It is no different at Lancaster New City, where the jolliest of seasons was welcomed last Nov. 25 with a Christmas light show and a free concert by the OPM band Rocksteddy.

The night’s festivities were kicked off by an explosive performance of hit song “Bang Bang” by The Voice of the Philippines Season 2’s Mackie Cao. The young belter serenaded the audience, made up of little kids and their parents, barkadas, and couples, with a few more songs that hyped up the crowd as they eagerly awaited Rocksteddy to take the stage.

The light show also provided a grand display of stop-motion laser lights, accompanied by the Santa’s Workshop exhibition that decorated the Central Greens by The Square, Lancaster New City’s own retail commercial center.

It was an endearing sight to behold, the groups of families standing hand in hand as they watched the light show in awe. The crowd’s excitement was amped up even further as Rocksteddy performed a strong set for the huge audience–a fitting kick-off to the three-year Christmas event tradition at Lancaster New City.

Until Dec. 26, the Christmas lightshows, Santa’s Workshop exhibition, and Christmas medleys will be shown regularly every Saturday and Sunday, while the Dekada Food Bazaar will be open from Wednesdays to Saturdays from 4 p.m. until midnight.

Dec. 9 will highlight Lancaster New City’s Christmas events with the grand reveal of the 20-foot family sculpture “Perpetuity” by award-winning Filipino artist Merlito Gepte as a symbol for the happy, united family that resides in the thriving township.

To complete the evening, an Open Air Cinema will be available for both residents and guests for a free film showing of blockbusters “Love You to the Stars and Back” and “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”

On Dec. 16, classic bands Imago, Six Cycle Mind, Banda ni Keggy, Stellar, and Grace Note will be holding a special Christmas concert at The Square. To conclude the month-long lineup of events at Lancaster New City, Simbang Gabi will be held at the uniquely-structured Parish of the Holy Family from Dec. 16-24 at 4:00 a.m, with anticipated masses on Dec. 15-23, 7:00 p.m.
