The spirit of giving comes early as book lovers gather not only to treat themselves to the country’s largest book fair but also spread the joy of reading with a book drive for Marawi.
In line with the celebration of the National Teachers’ Month (NTM), the Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) in partnership with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), will host the Teachers in Marawi Book Drive from Sept. 13 to 17. The books will be delivered to public school teachers affected by the clashes between the government troops and the rebels of the Maute Group in the conflict-stricken city of Marawi in Mindanao.
Visitors can spread the gift of reading by donating books at the selected dropboxes located at the NTM booth near the Hall 1 entrance at and at the Fandom Fest Area of the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City. Accepted donations are fiction such as children’s books, young adult paperback, and romances; non-fiction books, including cookbooks, business books, music books, and almanacs and encyclopedia not older than 2010. Donations of textbooks and workbooks without markings for K-12 students are encouraged as well.
The MIBF is organized by Primetrade Asia, Inc. in partnership with Asian Catholic Communicators, Inc., Book Development Association of the Philippines, Philippine Booksellers Association, Inc., and the Overseas Publishers Representatives’ Association of the Philippines.
