It was an escape. Literally, an escape from the Manila sun, from the traffic jam, the noise and the chaos brought about by the ongoing ASEAN Summit
Last week I found myself travelling once again to the City of Dagupan in Pangasinan for the annual Festivals of the North one of rhe highlights of the Bangus Festival celebration.
It’s a gathering of Festivals from all over Luzon. This year 9 festivals competed + the host city’s bangus Festival.
This year the contingent from Pandan Festival of Mapandan Pangasinan swept all the special awards including Best in Costume, Best in Props, and Best in Street dancing. The team eventually won the much coveted grand prize title.
Dagupan’s pride Bangus Festival settled for the bridesmaid title. Dagupan was the defending champion of the competition.
Finishing third is the contingent from Pugo La Union representing the Tinungbo Festival.
If you can still remember Pugo was also the grand champion during the Panagbenga Festival street dancing competition.
It was first time for Pugo to join the Festivals of the North yet they were able to pull off am impressive performance.
The competition started at 4PM and ended at around 9PM too tired and drained from the scorching heat of the summer sun.
Hopefully next year I can return to Dagupan!
