As a frequent traveler, I’m always on the lookout for travel deals, whether for hotel stays or flights. Being able to save a few hundred pesos per booking is a lot, since it adds up.
My number 1 tip for booking cheap flights is to wait for seat sales. Bought months in advance, ticket prices are really low. It’s a great option when you know where you want to be months from now.
However, when you have to buy a flight ticket close to your departure, prices can be really high. I found one way to save though: I use the Traveloka App.
Booking a flight (or a hotel room) is now a breeze with Traveloka. With the app, you can easily search for flights with the lowest rate based on your need. You can easily set parameters based on your need like the number of passengers, departure date, or arrival date.
With Traveloka, you will always be guaranteed with the lowest fare airlines can offer.
Last February, for example, I was looking for flights from Cebu to Manila. The cheapest flight I found was P3,113 including baggage.
I tried the Traveloka App, and the price was the same. The difference? Traveloka offers promos regularly. When I applied the ongoing code during that time, I ended up paying only P2,713 – a savings of P400. Pretty neat, huh?
Here’s the booking process.
First, I searched for flights on the date I wanted. I chose the 10am flight which cost P2,856.
When I added the baggage, the total went up to P3,113, same as with the one I found. I then checked the “Ongoing Promos” tab in Traveloka and found a coupon code for flights: “Lucky400.”
I used the code, and the total cost was reduced to P2,713.
Here’s another thing I like about the Traveloka App: there are several payment options you can choose from:
1. Credit card
2. Over the counter at 7-11 and M.Lhuillier
3. Bank payments (DragonPay) via BDO, BPI, Metrobank, Landbank, and Chinabank
I chose to use my credit card for convenience.
And just like that, my booking was already finalized.
Aside from this booking ticket in the app, I was also sent a text message containing my booking. There was no need to print anything; I just showed the screenshot to the guard in the Cebu airport, and I was allowed to go in.
My bottom line?
Use the Traveloka App when booking flights, especially when your departure is near. You can also use Traveloka to book hotels
. Make use of the ongoing promos they have, and you will definitely save some money
