In this age of creative selfies and instant fame via viral posts and videos, all it takes to reach stardom is for the right agency to spot a gem.
Child actor Hannah Lopez Vito first captured the hearts of Filipino viewers as the young Serena Marchesa who grew up to be Liza Soberano in the telenovela “Dolce Amore.” Today, she is Kitty, the adorable daughter of Ian Veneracion’s character Anton Noble in the primetime series “A Love to Last.” Hannah’s journey to stardom began when she joined Festival Mall’s Road to Fame.
“I let my Hannah join casting calls and from there, she got invites for casting in different networks. Road to Fame became my consultant and adviser ever since and they keep on inspiring me to not give up and to just wait for great results,” Mitzi Lopez Vito, Hannah’s mom, shared.
The new face of Cruzita in Megan Young’s “Marimar” also answered Road to Fame’s open casting call in 2012. The continuous support of Road to Fame and Mossimo’s management for child model and actress Ashley Cabrera made her win the Mossimo Kids Brand Ambassadress title in 2015. Today, Ashley is gearing up for a new project with GMA 7.
“Road to Fame opened doors for Ashley as we became more aware of the industry’s casting process, requirements like VTRs and reputable talent agencies. Meanwhile, the events in Road to Fame trained Ashley and boosted her confidence,” said Kritschelle San Jose, Ashley’s mother.
Other Road to Fame alumni include VIVA Artist Atashka Chloe Mercado, Starstruck 6 contestant and GMA 7 Artist Beatriz Imperial, and Encantadia’s new Mira, Kate Valdez.
In pursuit of its vision to make stars, Festival Mall in Alabang, Muntinlupa City makes the journey easier for aspiring models in the South as it hosts the Road to Fame Open Casting Call on Saturday, March 11 for kids (3-8 years old), on Sunday, March 12 for tweens (9-12 years old), and March 18 for teens and young adults (13-27 years old), at the mall’s Upper Ground Floor Expansion Wing. Selected participants will proceed to the final casting on March 19 where agents for the partner brands will be there to choose who will be their freshest talents. Selected participants will walk the runway during the Road to Fame Fashion Shows on April 1 and 2.
On each of the casting dates, aspirants will be able to directly meet top modeling agencies for their Open Casting, casting agencies, and TV networks with current projects. Photographers, makeup artists, and stylists will also be at hand for their portfolio needs,
“In the past, for one to be a model, one has to get a good photographer to put together a decent set card, and then bring this card to auditions in various modeling and talent agencies, and wait up to 4 weeks for a call back. We were only too happy to bring these aspiring models closer to live their dream to be a star through Road to Fame: Model and Fashion Congress,” said Rose Nuqui, Festival Mall’s Vice-President for Marketing, Exhibits and Conventions, and Amusement. “We believe that there are a lot of talents out there who are just waiting for a break. We want Road to Fame to be the platform that would give this opportunity especially to the selfie generation the link to legitimate modeling and talent agencies, as well as provide them an experience to walk the ramp through a fashion show in Festival Mall that would cap the four-week event.”
Don Alonzo, MyFameandFortune executive director, also said Road to Fame is a safe way for fresh new faces to get screened for modeling jobs without the fear of being scammed.
“The reality is that there are a lot of scams out there capitalizing on people who want to become famous. For example, they would pretend to give workshops for a certain fee, then it wouldn’t push through,” Alonzo stated.
“With Road to Fame, there’s no need to worry about getting scammed because the agencies we’ve invited really do have ties with media.”
